Digital Classic - Office of John Cheese
A print by an Australian digital advertising production house, Office of John Cheese, I saw on Ads of the world a few days ago.
Cigar, liquor, brick red full grain sofas and long copies. All were elements from the 1960s the hay days of advertising and clearly inspired by the Mad Men series. The copy was a masterpiece. In a few sentences, the writer has breathed life into a profound and charismatic fictional character Mr. Cheese. I must have fallen in love with this man at first sight were I a girl.
I read all the excellent copies in its three print executions just to indulge myself in an air from the golden 1960s. I thought as I read through the ads, why does a modern Australian digital production house advertise itself in a classical style? To show they are not just about production but are also Mad Avenue creative type? Or to show they watch Mad Men just like everyone of us and are connected to the northern half of the world. I decided to find the answer and started searching for the company website. However, disappointment was all I found: Under Construction.
A digital production house with a golden ad but no website. What could be more ironic?
